We know sometimes that accidents can happen, so we have put together a bit of information for our clients on our standard insurance policy.
Within the hire industry its standard practice for the hirer to organise in their own insurance for the equipment hired. This responsibility extends to the time that equipment is waiting to be collected, not just for the time the equipment is being used. Although “Fair wear and Tear” is considered acceptable, the hirer is responsible for all site damage.
We would strongly advise anyone hiring plant equipment to undertake a risk assessment. Especially when hiring larger equipment. This risk assessment should extend to theft as the potential financial implications for example of the theft of a 3Ton Dumper & 3Ton Mini Excavator would be in excess of £30,000. It’s with this in mind that we would always advise our customers to way up the risk of being fully liable for the theft of equipment without a full insurance policy. If a theft was to occur customers should be aware that they would be liable for not just the cost of replacing damaged or lost equipment, they would then be liable for loss of hire charges until a settlement had been received. If you are planning on using your building and or contents insurance to cover the hire of plant equipment we would always advise that you check with your insurance provider.
If you do not have hired in plant insurance , we can easily arrange this cover for you at a small, additional cost. Please ask for details when booking.
